Accomplishments in craftiness, so far ;-)

Violet and I worked on some of our Spring crafty ideas today.  Our kitchen looks like a mini sweets factory right now!  While I was at the mixer, making frosting (nest glue...;-) ) Violet did some prep by finding the right colors for birds and chicks...

...a job she did happily, singing all along :-)

We worked on the jordan almond birds and chicks first, to let the next frosting get a little firmer.  They are still edible, as we used a "Food Writer," by Wilton as well as candy melt "paint" for the other accents.  They were such a small thing to hold still and paint, so I was more than impressed with Violet's handiwork!!

Next, onto the bird nests, so simple, yet fun and delicious!  I made these growing up, I even remember my mom leading it with a group of my friends!  All you need is frosting, chow mein noodles, and candy eggs.  I like the Cadbury mini-eggs, but I've seen them made with jelly beans, Peanut M & M's, or Robin's Eggs as well.

Let's not forget, a traditional reward at the end of such a project.........
