Crafty and Festive for Spring Break!

For some quality time with my almost 6 year old, who loves to be crafty, in the kitchen, as well as with paper and holiday items, we're going to try a few things I've picked up through Pinterest, blogs, and other places.  One thing we'd like to do is make an Easter cake.  Although it looks crazy sweet, this one from CakeCentral.com looks fun and easy:

My mom used to make birds nest treats with us this time of year, and I came across several variations after reading a post at Chikabug's blog:  http://www.chickabug.com/blog/2012/03/birds-nest-desserts-for-easter.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Chickabug+%28Chickabug%29

Now the task is, which kind of nest to try??  ;-)

Additionally, we'll have to decorate Easter Eggs!  It's tradition, after all!  One problem with many ways of dyeing them, is that I simply cannot stand the smell of vinegar!  That eliminates some decorating strategies, but here's a non smelly way to decorate, that also sounds easy, and looks cute!  This is on Better Homes and Gardens website, and I snapped it up through Pinterest, from the Inspiring Giggles blog.  http://pinterest.com/pin/268104984036856450/

Some cute, yet delightfully simple bluebirds can be made with Jordan Almonds, as seen here!

These (above) are from SweetSugarbelle.com http://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/blog/ .

My little ballerina,  show choir, jazz dancing, fairy loving...and more daughter loves tutus, and Angelbabes http://www.etsy.com/shop/angelbabes on Etsy makes and sells gorgeous ones!  She also sells a guide for making them yourself, so, feeling ambitious, I am going to send for some tulle and try it!  In reality, Spring Break may not be long enough for all we want to do, but it's good to have some creative goals!

Let's SPRING into creativity!  :-)

50's Fun!

We had such a blast watching our little girl perform with show choir!  They did a super-cute 1950's medley.  I was also so proud that she is so comfortable and appears to love that stage!!!
The girls sang and danced so well, I was very impressed, and after only 9 weeks rehearsing they rocked it!
We celebrated with a bouquet and a Hello Kitty, and her choice of dinner, which ended up being hot dogs with cheese ;-).

Thank you, Thank you!

The traditional Leprechaun Trap project :-)

Watch Out, Tricky Leprechaun!!!!  ;-)

The trap is ready for school!  We had fun making it together!  I helped my little one, but also wanted to make sure it was her design.  When a naughty leprechaun grabs the little hat full of treasure, the trap is activated!  Hidden behind the cloud is an upside-down jello cup strung through the top.  The string goes over the back and then back in through a pin-hole toward the bottom, the string lay taut on the bottom, with the treasure (bait) holding it down.  Greedy Leprechauns beware!  As the little hat is lifted, down comes the cloud and hidden trap!

Kindergarten homework, a once in a lifetime memory!  Happy St. Patrick's!

My turn ;-)

Mommy gets to have cute stuff, too!!

I have a habit of ordering cute little things for my little darling girl frequently from Etsy shops and boutiques.  I just can't resist all the cute little treasures!  This time, however, it was MY turn to get an Etsy treat to wear!  :-)

Proud Moment!

So proud of my little Kindergartener, who participated in her first running event, a Fun Run/5K to benefit her school district!  She's my little rock star!
Happy to support our schools and promote health and fitness at the same time, not to mention encouraging perseverance!

Happy March!

If you're old enough, you'll remember the joy of Farrells Ice Cream Parlor!  So glad they are popping back up and I was able to share it with my daughter!  We were rewarding an awesome report card!  I think my parents took us to Farrells once upon a time for a report card reward, too!
